I’m KENYA: Epidemiologist, Writer, Makeup-artist, Musician, and Believer in purposeful living. Thank you for joining me at Tribes of Kenya. As an Epidemiologist, I’m cloaked with an invisibly decorated glitter cape saving the world from old and emerging infectious diseases. As a Writer, I’ve published literature in scientific journals focused on racial and ethnic disparities in infectious diseases along with many other areas. As a Musician, I soothe the mood and dance to the beat of my little drum (djembe) “Gon, go, Pa ♪”.  Simply, I reject the story of a single way of living, so daily I choose to live as many lives as I can create.  I am a gardener of my own purpose, hoping to make an impact along the way.

In all of these capacities, namely as an Epidemiologist, I have
committed to the fight for social justice and health equity. I believe in the interconnectedness of the human experience, one that allows for the linkage of people by geographical space and spirit. It is my conviction that as a human, regardless of your location on the globe, you should be able to achieve the most optimal level of health. This has led me to shift my perspective from one that is focused domestically to one that is focused globally.   My start begins on the continent of my ancestral beginning, Mother Africa.

This blog will be as multi-layered as my personality, as inspiring as the people I expect to encounter in Zambia, and as enriching as the natural resources of Mother Africa. Most importantly, this blog will reflect my journey as scientist sowing and gaining seeds of transformation in marginalized areas of life and as an African-American, soul- searching in a land that I call home but never had the opportunity visit.

Learn with me, grow with me, and connect with me, as I use my collective abilities to impact and chase utopia in Zambia.

Warmly,

K E N Y A
